Character and mood

Golden Glow gives your photos the feeling of a late summer afternoon, even when you shot in the middle of the day. It brings out the best in warm skin tones, soft backlighting, and the kind of atmosphere you get when the sun sits low. Not an artificial filter, but a colour palette that feels like a memory of August.

Technically, Golden Glow shifts the white balance slightly toward warm, boosts the yellow and orange tones in skin, and lifts the highlights without letting them clip. The shadows stay soft and gently lifted, keeping the contrast pleasant without going harsh. Clarity is pulled back slightly so skin looks silky, and a touch of dehaze adds that thin veil of light that suggests sun through warm air.

This preset works best with female portraits taken outdoors, ideally close to golden hour. Think sessions in a field, on a terrace, or against a sunlit light-coloured wall. Light and tanned skin tones respond most strongly to the warm palette. Clothing in white, cream, terracotta or soft green fits well with the overall look. On dark or overcast backgrounds the result is less convincing, because the preset is built to work with available light, not against it.

You reach for Golden Glow when you want to deliver consistent warm summer portraits without manually reworking every single image. It gives you a solid starting point that you can fine-tune per photo with small adjustments. It also works well when you want to steer a shoot toward a lifestyle or fashion feel with a Mediterranean mood.

One practical tip: after applying the preset, adjust exposure based on the histogram rather than by eye. Golden Glow performs best when the highlights sit just below maximum. If you shot slightly overexposed, pull the exposure slider back by a third of a stop before making any other adjustments. That way the preset keeps its soft, open quality without losing detail in the skin.
